Each walleye spinning rod is crafted to meet the precise needs of specific fishing applications, including heavy metal jigs, vertical jigging techniques, ripping crankbaits, aggressive jigging, slip bobber fishing, and drifting or floating to drag live baits on the bottom. Created to give walleye anglers the upper hand regardless of the technique, each St. Croix Eyecon walleye spinning rod has a modified split handle and a foregrip customized for the technique. If you love walleye fishing, then take note! Balanced and lightweight versatility is yours in every model of the St. Croix Eyecon Spinning Rod family!
- Constructed with SCII carbon fiber that has greater flexural strength and a lighter formulation than the previous version
- FRS - Fortified Resin System combines a fortified super resin with computer-operated curing ovens that provide improved temperature and time management through all stages of the curing cycle. FRS prevents microbuckling by keeping the carbon fibers in proper alignment. Blanks manufactured using this advanced manufacturing protocol consistently test out 33% stronger than those built with standard resins and curing methods.

Type
- Vertical Jig - A vertical jig rod is meant for dropping light jigs straight down and working them in place, especially when fishing directly beneath the boat. It supports finesse jigs (e.g. 1/16 to 3/8 oz) in moderate to calm current conditions, with sensitivity in the tip and backbone for hooksets (SKU: 197456 - Finesse Vertical Jig for lighter lures)
- Heavy Metal - Heavy Metal refers to vertical jigging under heavy current or deeper water using heavier jig heads. The rod supports heavy jigs and gives more backbone under load. Perfect rod for Detroit River fishing
- Jig-N-Rig - This technique combines vertical jigging with the ability to pitch or cast jigs (e.g. downsizing or switching between vertical work and casting). Versatile, allowing for both vertical control and casting flexibility
- Big Water - General-purpose rod aimed at medium-range jigs (e.g. ¼ to 5/8 oz) in larger bodies of water, where a versatile rod is needed to pitch, vertical jig, or drift. It strikes a balance between sensitivity and strength, ideal for moderate to heavy presentations. Same as Jig-N-Rig, but can handle heavier lures
- Snap Jig - Implies snap-jigging or imparting short, sharp upward “snaps” on a jig to make it dart and fall, often used with blade jigs or heavier hair jigs
- Finesse - This is for light‐line, subtle presentations (e.g. drop shots, light hair jigs) where sensitivity is critical. The rod supports light jigs and allows anglers to detect subtle bites while maintaining control
- Riggin’ - “Riggin’” covers presentations like drop shot rigs, light jigs, and finesse techniques where control and sensitivity are crucial. It often serves anglers who fish soft plastics, hair jigs, or other finesse setups
- Crankin’ - Crankin’ means using crankbaits or medium–diving hardbaits. The rod is tuned to provide enough backbone to drive crankbaits and absorb pressure, yet allow sensitivity to detect strikes
- Jig-N-Rap - This technique is specific to fishing Jigging Raps and similar blade or lipless crank-style jigs. The rod encourages movement control, slack-line bite detection, and recovery of vertical or horizontal style lures
- Rip-N-Rap - Refers to ripping or snapping lipless crankbaits or Rippin’ Raps aggressively. The rod supports heavier lures and can handle the dynamic action of ripping and recasting,
- Slip-N-Rig - Perfect when using live bait under a sliding bobber or float. Enough backbone for sweeping hooksets and casting distance with light rigs plus the extra-fast tip helps detect subtle strikes on slack line
- Drift-N-Float - This refers to using slip bobbers or free-floating rigs (float drift) in current. The rod is often longer for lob rigs and executes sweeping hooksets, especially effective when drifting live bait over transition zones or drop-offs
