The Lamiglas "The Closer" Centerpin Rod series is for steelhead and salmon anglers fishing Great Lakes, Pacific Northwest, and Canadian waters. The collection contains true float rods, each composed for the perfect taper and balance. These super-responsive blanks, designed by Lamiglas and rod consultant Roger Hinchcliff, provide the best actions and a powerful bend while still protecting light leaders.


"The Closer" Rods feature beautiful, polished graphite blanks with a fiberglass weave over the butt sections. The design distributes pressure throughout the blank for a forgiving but powerful backbone. Have a stout fish headed for the rapids? You can turn fast and furious fish easier than traditional floppy Centerpin Rods. Have a fish coming out of the water fast with barbless hooks? These rods are not stiff and allow a fish to twist and turn.


Larger REC RECoil guides on the top section help avoid icing, plus you'll find a double-ring RECoil guide on the tip-top. The lower ceramic guides are sensitive, strong, and lightweight. RECoils result in less tip weight and hold up well to bank, brush, and boat use.


The carbon fiber weave handle is a new advantage for sensitivity. The materials used in this handle configuration maximize vibrations while being highly durable. These handles clean off nicely from bait use (like egg skeins) and grip very well in wet or dry weather. You will notice that the CFX carbon fiber handle warms to your hand quickly, making it perfect for cold-weather angling. A sleek black butt cap lets the rod balance expertly and protects it when set down on the bank or a boat floor.

    I recently purchased the highly recommended centrepin rod, but I'm disappointed that after 14 days, I still haven't received my order. Despite contacting FishUSA support twice, my tracking number indicates that the carrier company has not picked up the package from FishUSA's outbound department. It's puzzling why the support team hasn't proactively checked on the status of my order. I'm hoping for a more proactive and effective resolution to this issue.

    This rod perfectly matches my fishing style for steelhead. The 12ft 6-12lb has the perfect mod fast action to let you really drive the hook home on a long drift. This rod really is the perfect balance of hook setting power while having a soft enough action to keep fish pinned. It’s also amazing how in control you feel with this rod when fighting a fish. It has enough back bone to turn fish out of snags while still being a very enjoyable fight with the fish. Not to mention the build quality is excellent. It's worth saving the money up to get one, might be the last centerpin rod you’ll ever need to buy.

    Great rod when you can get away with thicker tippet and height lb test lines (10lb and above). One of the most sensitive rods Ive owned and it has a tremendous backbone with the ability to get fish out of wood quickly or bringing large fish back up river after a long run. If I had one critique it would be its tippet protection when the water is clear or at a heavy pressured tributary that requires 6-8lb test. If tippet and line protection is a concern, I would recommend the 13 and above vs the 12 rods. Overall, great rod, worth the money and this thinf is durable!

    The closer blanks are by far the best float rod blanks I have ever used. My favorite all around float fishing rod is the closer 12 6-12lb. This rod has amazing back bone for running 12lb yet its perfect parabolic bend and action can protect 6lb leaders for those finesse fishing days. I truly believe the action on this rod allows you to drive better hook sets which leads to more fish landed. It certainly is an investment but its one that is well worth it. Lamiglas stands behind this product with a lifetime warranty so that is another way to justify the investment. I would recommend seriously considering the purchase of a closer to anyone who float fishes.
