This was a gift for my son who is into Salmon and Steelhead like I was when I was younger. This is what he asked for for Xmas last year. The look on his face when he came and got it was worth a thousand words. Totally happy and thrilled. He will many many trips of pleasure with this rod. I couldn't ask for anything more. Bought the 6-12 lbs models (fixed reel seat and sliding rings), strongly prefer the fixed reel seat despite it being my first center pin rod without sliding rings. Paired very well with a Kingpin Zeppelin. My primary use is for steelhead but have also used this rod for coho and chinook salmon; no complaints at all. This rod has unmatched stopping power but has a light enough tip to help protect light leader. The only aspect about this rod I am not 100% pleased with is the handle/grip. The carbon fiber weave is slightly abrasive and has worn the skin between my fingers raw after catching a good number of fish in a day. Might just be how I grip the rod but I've never had an issue with the grip on any other rod. I wrapped the grip in front of the reel seat with black hockey tape, problem solved. Absolutely love the guides on this rod as well as the depth markers built into the rod. This rod is awesome... You get what you pay for.

I fished for years with a three piece the two piece rod is great , it took some getting used to because most float rods are flimsy and limp with a little tip sag. This rod has no tip sag with a very solid back bone great for setting the hook on those long drifts , I did break my first closer it was a fluke and the guys at fish USA took care of me it's a great rod yeah it's expensive but it's a high quality rod, ya know ya get what ya pay for.

The rod feels scary lite and looks nice. A padded rod sock was included. The action was not as stiff as I thought it would be. The woven looking grip material makes sliding the rings a little difficult but should assist in securing the reel. What is odd is the grip material has a seam in the middle of the grip. Field testing will show if this seam will not cause the material to loosen. Being the 10-17 pound line model it will be used for salmon. I will have it on the water for three weeks in October. I will posts a performance update after my trip.
