When dislodged from their rock by accident or by migration and swept into currents, trout and juvenile steelhead (later, adult steelhead) take advantage in shallow areas. This is also a good winter pattern as stoneflies will emerge from their holds and migrate to shorelines to mate on bright sunny days when temps are in the 30-to-40-degree Fahrenheit temperature range.
