The Bead Head Stonefly Nymph - 2 Pack gives trout and steelhead anglers a realistic deep-drifting pattern for fast water where big fish wait on dislodged stoneflies. Tied in the Randall Kaufmann style in black and brown, this fly matches the nymph stage of stoneflies that cling to rocks along the edges of swift streams and rivers for long periods before migrating toward shore to emerge. When current knocks them loose, brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, and steelhead feed on them aggressively in riffles, seams, and shallow transition water. This pattern also shines in winter when stoneflies move on bright days with air temperatures in the 30- to 40-degree range. Fish it on a light tippet through low riffles that drop into deeper, slower pools and let it drift naturally where trout and juvenile steelhead expect to see the real thing.
