Product Details

The Simms Freestone Z Bootfoot Chest Waders are the ultimate for cold-weather fishing when lesser anglers prefer the couch. These Simms bootfoot waders are designed and built on a rugged, breathable, mobility-enhancing Simms Freestone Z Waders chassis. Fleece-lined handwarmer pockets were tucked behind stretch-woven pockets that let you quickly find on-stream items, like floatant, tippet, or a line ice melt product. Simms Freestone Z Bootfoot Waders - Rubber Sole models also offer patented front and back seams that provide an articulated fit, increasing mobility and minimizing seam wear.

The Freestone Z bootfoot is grid-fleece lined rubber and neoprene with a rubber outsole that you can outfit with studs or wading cleats (sold separately) for more traction. The built-in rubber-soled boots on these Freestone Z waders go on easy and charge hard into the waters as you look forward to a cold fishing day's reward.

I had been contemplating coughing up the money for new waders for a few months. I knew it was gonna be pricey and I knew there were several good options. I always was a Simms guy and after watching a video review, it was 'Duh! These are what I need!' I've always used stockingfoot, but the review, although very on the nose, talked about how the northwest steelheaders love the bootfoot for warmth and convenience. No more frozen fingers before I even get to fishing because of frozen laces. These waders are every bit as thick as their top of the line models. The material is not Gore-Tex, but Toray. I cant tell the difference, honestly. The boots are comfy and warm. The zipper is incredible! I fish several days a week for 2 to 3 hours at a crack, as I mostly fish an urban river on my way to/from work, and these waders are a game changer! My only suggestion to Simms would be maybe bigger pockets and fuzzier or fleecier (is that a word?) handwarmer pockets. You do lose the kangaroo pocket so you cant warm your hands as effectively, but you can just do as I do and use a quarterback type handwarmer thingy hunters often use. The storage pockets still easily fit standard 7ish inch boxes. I also put the studs that Simms offers on these for the limestone cobble filled rivers I fish around me. With these waders I can be geared up 10 times faster, and I'm way more comfortable in these than my old Headwaters. Plus, with the bootfoot, I can comfortable wear jeans under the waders! Now, the test will be if they last as long as my old pair of Headwaters that lasted 14 years!! Based on those and my awesome new Freestone Zs, I think I made the right choice sticking with Simms and buying these truly awesome waders!
