    I purchased this vise to replace my knock-off Thompson vise, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. It holds onto very small hooks, articulated shanks, big, heavy wire hooks, and everything in between very well. The biggest hook I've put into the jaws, so far, is a 2/0 Partridge ST Patriot Stinger hook, and I had no problems with the hook slipping, even under very heavy thread tension. The rotary function of the vise, once you get it dialed in, is very smooth. I recommend this vise to everyone, from experienced tyers to beginners.
