Got one of these last fall. It was my first pin reel and I love it. I upgraded to abec-7 bearings from Boca and that made a huge difference. Ive caught a bunch of fish and had a bunch of fun with this reel. Ill get newer, fancier more expensive reels as I go along, because that just happens, but when I went up to the Adirondacks last week, I took this and an 11 Clarus and did really well with the browns and had a blast. And when I slipped b/c I just had rubber/carbide stud soles instead of felt (those rocks up there are hard, round and slippery!) and scratched the hell out of it, it still ran fine and I was pretty glad it wasnt a more expensive reel.

I'm a Flyfisherman, but being a guide you need to know not just the river, and what it takes to get your client on a fish but aslo it's very helpul to know all fishing methods. Thanks to my good friend Bob from Ohio, who got me into center pin-float fishing,he recomemded the Aventa and about two weeks later i hooked just not one fish but ended up hooking four in a day and landed all four, two 10 pounders and two at 12 lbs. It's a great reel if you starting out or have been fishing for years.
