The Shimano Tekota A Levelwind Line Counter Reel is a robust salt and freshwater reel! Improving upon the original Tekota line, the Tekota A features COREPROTECT water resistance to increase corrosion resistance, as well as a loud clicker, easy-to-replace anti-fogging lens, and ergonomic S-Compact body design. The Tekota A is excellent for use with all trolling techniques including downriggers, divers, planer boards, lead core, and wirelines. The original Tekota is legendary for its durability and strength, and the vast improvements in the redesign will be sure to impress any Great Lakes angler or saltwater enthusiast.
- COREPROTECT
- The concept of COREPROTECT is simple: to provide water resistance without creating a heavy rotation feeling. There are three key areas of the reel that require protection: the roller clutch, the body, and the line roller.
- HAGANE Body
- The HAGANE Body is a metal reel body with high rigidity. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminate body flexing. The result transforms the angler's actions directly into cranking power. It's efficiency through strength.
- S A-RB
- These bearings have been through the same process as Shimano's A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearing's rotation.
- S-Compact ergonomic body design

I will be buying more, when they are in stock

I have been using these for the last 3 years. You get what you pay for. The drag is easy to adjust and they are just smooth. I will be gradually replacing all of my line counters with Shimanos as long as the better half agrees.

outstanding reel for trolling - state of the art Shimano = unsurpassed excellence

In comparison to its competitors this reel has lower mass, a smoother finely adjustable drag, and finer craftsmanship, at a very competitive price. Freespool is controlled by a side lever rather than a thumb button, so it takes two hands to let line go, but for most applications this is no big deal. There is enough room on the spool for hundreds of yards of monofilament, braid or lead core line. I am using it for trolling lead core and with 70 yards of that plus about 100 yards of braid as backing the spool is properly filled. The 500 series is compact but extremely strong - I'd only recommend the 600 series for exclusively Chinook trolling or bottom fishing for large prey like halibut.
VERY IMPRESSED. BUT THEN AGAIN ITS A SHIMANO !
