    I have used the 7' and 8' medium/mod. fast rods for a long time and find them very good trolling rods for stripers. It seems that the rod flexibility has changed in the last couple of years. I had to go to a heavy/mod. fast rod recently because of the thinness and very flexible ends on the medium rods. Not sure how it will affect the hook sets but have switched over to heavy power. I will continue to use this Shimano TDR because they have proven over many years to be very rugged.

    great musky trolling rod. get a heavy power. I prefer the 8' over the 9'. They handle large and small baits just fine. And 53" inch fish :). If you're going to troll, definitely buy a glass rod like this; way better hook ups, allows the fish to take the lure, absorbs the blow, etc vs graphite. 100% recommend. Pair it with a new shimano tekato A 400 line counter and never look back.
