Okuma Sierra Fly Reel

by -

I live in southeast Alaska and do a lot of saltwater fishing. This is my second Okuma Sierra reel. The drag works great. The Finnish on the older Sierra is still very good after 60 some Steelhead fishing trips. Overall a nice reel for the price. Dan Southeast Alaska

Great Reel for the Money as many reviewers have stated

by

I am a beginner fly fishermen. I have been using this reel for about 3 years. Being a beginner, I have abused the reel in ways you cannot imagine. I have filled it with sand and dropped it on pavement. I have not had a single problem that I could not fix with a little cleaning and lubricating. Buy this reel if you want to get (yourself or your kid) into the sport cheap without sacrificing too much quality.

4/5 is a sweet little reel

Great value and looks classic as described.

Great Reels

I use a 3/4 w and never had a problem casting or reeling .The left /right hand feature is a bonus since i'm left handed .It only clicks on the drag and no noise reeling in which doesn't make other fishermen look to see where the noise is coming from. I'm now looking to buy another Okuma Sierra only this time a 4/5 w .I figure i had good luck with the first one might as well stick to the Okuma for a great dependable reel.

Great for ice fishing in shallow water .

Doesn't spin the line. I use it with #4 Fireline , 1/64-/16 tipped jigs, small Darters/Zippers, and small Pimples/Buckshots.

Great craftsmanship!

Okuma makes a quality reasonably priced fly reel. It has worked well in my fishing trips.

good reels

I like the Okuma sierra flyreels beacuse of the smooth reeling and the fact it doesn't click when reeling in only when a fish is pulling on the drag does it click . I've had no problem with these reels so why go to anything else.

Sierra 5/6 reel

This reel was perfect replacement for a sciangler 2L reel costing twice as much!

Good reel for the money

by -

I bought this reel for the undemanding needs of fly fishing for panfish, and it does quite well. I wanted an inexpensive reel for banging around in a boat. And I prefer not to have the "click-click" on retrieve that many inexpensive fly reels have. My only criticism is that although the drag is smooth, its range of userful adjustment is rather narrow. I like the reel well enough that I've purchased two spare reels for it.

Excellent reel for the price

Returning to fly fishing after years of other sports and other types of fishing. This reel seems of high quality for the price. I wanted to change from left hand to right hand operation. Clear directions and the tool provided made this task easy. I haven't been on the water yet, but practice casting shows the reel works smoothly, holds 100 yards of 20# backing plus a five weight line.

Good Basic Reel

No actual fishing experience yet, but it looks like a good basic design that serve the purpose of getting me started fly fishing at a minimum cost.

nice reel worked beautiful

by -

the bearing is tight to get out..to change from right to left the bearing tool needs to be made a little more ridged

Good reel for tight-lining small ice jig

by -

Great for delivering 1/64-/16 jigs on a light action 24" ice rod . Drag incremented in crisp clicks . Spool w/#4 FireLine .

this is a good fly reel....hands down...

this is not a cork disk drag....but works awsome.....i have a 300.00 ross fly reel, and by no way in the same group...but i have caught countless 30lb salmon in michigan with this reel...this reel is by far one i will never be without...make no mistake.....this reel is a little on the smaller side...but will put it up against my ross anyday...........no joke,,,,works great...love it!!! just go get one and you will not be sorry!!!!!!!
