The Okuma Makaira Spinning Reel is a tournament-grade big game reel built for unmatched strength, durability, and drag control in saltwater conditions. Its rigid, machine-cut forged aluminum body, sideplate, and Cyclonic Flow Rotor provide maximum structural integrity, while a forged stainless steel main gear and precision-cut 17-4 stainless steel pinion gear deliver powerful, consistent torque. The oversized 17-4 stainless spool shaft minimizes flex under pressure, and the Hydro Sealed body protects the full Dual Force Drag (DFD) system—featuring a Carbonite drag stack lubricated with Cal’s drag grease—for long-lasting, high-output performance. With 9HPB + 1RB stainless steel bearings, a dual anti-reverse system, and a customized preset drag that functions like a lever drag reel, the Makaira offers the reliability needed for serious offshore battles. Finished with a corrosion-resistant coating, machined aluminum handle arm, manual trip bail system, and rotor brake, this reel is available in both right- and left-hand specific models for optimized fit and feel.
