solid rod for the price

by the fishing nurse -

I bought 2 of these rods from this site to replace my 3 year old ice blue super flex rods. My line was starting to fray due to the last rod eye being "grooved" from fishing line. Very sensitive rod that is my go to panfish rod. FYI I have use these rods for quite a few years. The first one of thes rods I had I snapped the rod tip on due to having the jig hooked in one of the lower rod guides. During transport and vibrating my reel managed to crank to the point of snapping my rod, so loosen your drag on the reel or don't hook your jig through a guide on the rod.

Using the 48-inch HT Ice Blue Super Flex down South

by Jon -

I bought two of these rods recently. Of course, the streams don't ice over in central Alabama where I live, but these rods have proven very effective in vertical jigging from my bass boat. I target yellow perch, crappie, white bass, bluegills and Alabama (spotted) bass in water depths of 4 to 50+ feet. The action is "light" - the parabolic action, 48" rod doesn't have an ultra sensitive, really fine tip, but for the relatively heavy (1/12 oz. or heavier) lures required when fishing from a boat in wind or current, that is a perfect action. Furthermore, the bright orange tip helps in detecting strikes. With 2- or 4-lb. test superline having a very low stretch (Nanofil, for example), these rods are hard to beat. I know the 4-foot ice fishing rods were designed for hole hopping on the ice, but they work well for deep or shallow vertical jigging from a boat. Even in a moderate wind, a 3- or 4-foot rod is about the mininum you want when fishing out of a boat, because it's just too hard to keep the line away from the boat or the trolling motor with a really short rod. On a still day, however, a shorter ice fishing rod or a rod with an ultralight tip can be used if desired. One of my 48-inch HT Supe Flex rods is rigged with an a long flat HT spring bobber, which is fairly stiff but adjustable, and I really like this combination. The additional 4 or 5 inches of length provided by the spring provides greatly enhanced visual indications when a light-biting fish is nipping at the lure. On a day when there is little wind, it is possible to fish very light lures such as those used by ice fisherman from a boat. I have more expensive ice fishing rods in my arsenal, but the HT rods are a tremendous bargain, and I've caught a ton of fish with them. I have read some reviews where the slip ring reel seats received negative ratings, but I don't find them objectionable at all. The HT Ice Blue rods are great.

BEST winter spinning rod ever

by CaptainDan -

These rods perform perfectly for winter time crappie fishing. The super flex tip can indicate the slightest bite like a spring bobber. I 've caught 8 pound wipers with these rods and never broken one yet. I dropped one in my slip last year and luckily caught it this year. I wiped off the crud/moss and put on another reel and it works as good as new after being in 18 feet of water for a year. It outperforms expensive graphite rods that break easy in extreme cold weather. Now around 20 guys I fish with have them.

Perfect Ice Rod

by dtcc1445 -

I use these for fishing mainly for perch but they are fun for any pan fish. I think they give you the best showing for the smallest of bites, better than any graphite rod that I have ever used.

Good For the Price

by Cmack

I got the 24 inch for general ice fishing, mostly panfish and bass. I have used it for 1.5 seasons. These things are VERY durable and sensitive, like most fiberglass poles (ie Ugly Sticks). However, the last 3 guides freeze almost instantly, making fishing a great hassle. I replaced them with much wider homemade guides. Also, my rod has almost no backbone, so I struggle to keep control of larger fish on the line. Do not get me wrong, I do like this rod and it is a tremendous value, but keep my cons in consideration.

Great Rods!

by Kevin -

These are fantastic rods if you are on a budget. I prefer the 30" length, I feel it has the perfect amount of backbone and tip to keep crappies and bluegills hooked up. The 24" is okay as well, but has a little less backbone.

Great little rod

by Lumps -

I really like this rod. It's well made and does the job I bought it for (ice fishing for smelts). I have no complaints. They are very lightweight and sensitive to any bites. A couple of weeks ago I bought two different little rods for ice fishing from a different company and paid only slightly less for them only to have one break before I even got to use it (they were poor quality and not at all what I was expecting). I can't say that about these rods. Count me as a pleased customer... in fact I have already ordered an additional two rods already.

Best affordable rod, period.

by Ice_Angler -

I've loved these rods for years. For the money, you won't find anything better. I love them for their sensitive tips and they fight panfish well. I also love that there are long versions for hole hopping and an 18" for sight fishing. Only knock is they are a noodle all the way through, they could use a little more backbone. And I wish the guides on the 48" were the same as what are on the smaller versions(bare metal instead of plastic lined)

Great Rods

I have 5 HT ice blue 36 LT rods with 5 ARC-106AC reels on the back of my ice fishing sled Best combo I found to do the job of catching fish jigging.

Sensitive lightweight rod with tiny eyelets

by Koissu -

The tip of one of these came off on the first day I used it so I superglued it back on...slightly crooked. I ended up cutting off one of the eyelets, 2nd from the top because there were so many, and they are so small. For $7.99 for the 24 inch it is hard to complain, by the eyelets do ice up very easily. I need to find a way to enlarge or adjust them. Otherwise, very sensitive and great for smelt and panfish.

Bang for your buck

by Heck44 -

I've enjoyed the HT Ice Blue rods fir their sensitivity and performance especially at the price of these rods. Have caught 40" Northern on these. Finesse is the game, but that is the fun. If you break it, you're not out the big bucks.

Works great. Sensitive tip for perch and walleye, yet stout enough to handle lakers.

Best dock rod there is

by RabbitDFFD -

The ONLY thing I can say negative about this rod is FishUSA does not maintain it in year-round inventory. I bought 2 and had to turn around and special order 5 more on ebay. There is absolutely NONE available until October according to the website.
