I bought this pin at the beginning of the spring, and landed a decent amount of fish on it. I like the pin, but the bearing have began to slow down. If you are already spending 200$ I would recommend going the extra step, and buying a nicer pin. If all you have is 200$ then go for it. I have landed big fish on it, and still use it now, but regret not buying a nicer reel

This is my 3rd Okuma Center pin. I use it for small river carp fishing. The machining is amazing. Great looking reel. Of the three, an Adventa, a Sheffield DR II and the Raw II : I think the Raw II is the freest spinning, but for my purposes, a bit of a non-issue. If I were a steelheader, I'd probably choose the DR II for the Drag. Quality reels-great price-point. Highly recommend. An Aside: I do not Wallace cast , or side cast. I set the clicker, strip off how far I want to cast; hold the hook/lure/float so that about 5-8 feet of line is hanging down from the rod tip, side arm flip cast and lightly control the "running line" with my non-rod hand. Accurate to 60 feet. Be in the water or on a snag free shore. Shut off the clicker. Carp to 15#.. looking for the 20. Tight lines. Make Fish USA your tackle store. I have.

One of your best mid-range reels in my opinion. Great for beginners. But a quality reel that will get the job done for any skill level. It comes with two steel greased bearings. Start up is decent. Reel spins sufficiently. Boca makes ABEC 7 ceramic bearings for this reel. Installation is easy and takes ten minutes. Startup was much better and the reel spins noticeably longer. After the bearing upgrade this reel spins with the best of them.

Managed to get out and use this baby. Works plenty good. Used it on the Yough River in fast to slow moving water and was very pleased. Managed three trout with no trouble. You can cover a lot of water with reel. I would imagine the more costly reels may work better. For the money a good buy.

This reel is completely dependent on the operators skill. It can land tiny smelt and monster steel head. I caught my personal best buck on it this past week, 15.7lbs, 33.8 inches, 17 inch girth. This reel handled the job like it was designed too. Flawless handling, smooth transitions allowing me to let this monster dive when it wanted, while letting me clench to keep him out of the log jams and snags. Landed this fish on a 8lbs fluorocarbon leader, any hiccup in this system and that fish would have mangled my setup. Okuma didn't let me down, this reel is an amazing center pin.
