    Replace those factory trebles

I use these hooks to replace the factory treble hooks on inline spinners and spoons when fishing for trout. I use the #10 size for the 1/8 oz. inline spinners - Rooster Tails & Panther Martins - and the #8 size for 1/8 or 1/4 oz. size spoons - Thomas Colorado or Kastmasters. The single hook is less likely to snag than the standard trebles, and it makes releasing the fish much easier. I haven't noticed any real difference in hook up ratios either. Plus, it practically eliminates that tangled mess you get when you put 3 or 4 spinners/spoons into the same tackle box compartment with the factory trebles on them.

    Good Swap for Trebles

I started swapping out the treble hooks on my 1/8 oz. spinners and similar sized spoons this year for trout fishing. I usually try the #10 hooks on the spinners and the #8 hooks on the spoons, since the spoons tend to be a bit larger. Two primary advantages I think. 1) unhooking a caught fish is much easier if there is only one hook shank & point instead of a treble hook, especially if the entire treble is inside the fish's mouth. 2) it is less likely to get snagged and is easier to get unstuck when I inevitably do get snagged on some of the rocks or other underwater obstructions while fishing the streams. I haven't noticed any difference in my hook up ratio when using the single Siwash hook vs. a treble.

Better Hook Sets and Easier on the Fish

I always replace the treble hooks on my spoons, spinners, and cranks when I'm fishing for steelhead and salmon. The hooks fit perfectly onto my Rapala Countdowns, Rooster Tails, and Dardevles. I almost never miss a fish and seldom have them throw the hook. I mostly catch & release and the single hook point is far less damaging to the fish.
