Product Details

Daiichi D16Z Bleeding Bait Wide Gap Octopus Hooks bring a natural injured-baitfish look to live bait, roe, and cut bait presentations for walleye, salmon, steelhead, trout, bass, and catfish. The Bleeding Bait red finish adds a visual strike trigger that can help draw attention to the bait when drifting, bottom fishing, float fishing, or working current seams. High-carbon steel helps the ultra-sharp point retain its edge through repeated use, while the low-profile barb penetrates quickly with less resistance. A wide-gap octopus bend leaves ample room for bait and improves contact during the hookset, and the up eye supports common snell knots and leader rigs.

  • Red coloration resembles injured prey and adds a visible feeding cue near live bait, eggs, or cut bait
  • Wide gap octopus bend provides extra clearance around bulky bait and promotes firm hooksets
  • Ultra-sharp point and low-profile barb drive into the fish with minimal resistance
  • High-carbon steel maintains point sharpness, while the up eye accommodates snelled leaders and bait rigs
  • Quantity per pack: 9

I landed my first Chinook Salmon on a Size 4 Daiichi Wide Gap Bleeding Bait Octopus Hook. The hook bit true, held firm, and even after one of the toughest fights of my life it was still sharp and able to land more fish! I am so impressed at the performance that Daiichi has become my first choice of brand when it comes to Hooks. I wish they made more variety and they were more widely available. I use their octopus, circle, single egg, and baitholder hooks whenever I can. And at the price and quantity per pack you really can't go wrong. They do lose their red color quickly, but then again so does every other red hook I have used.

    Great Hooks

I have been using Daiichi hooks for 20 years. They are as good as anyone else's. Yes, the red bleeds away but let's think about that. Do red hooks give the appearance of blood? Great, except my hooks are barely visible because they are covered in the bait. The hook color has no bearing on the fish unless there is no or too little bait on it.
