The Thomas Cyclone in Gold or Nickel 1/4 oz. is the best dog-gone trout lure there ever was. The 1/4 oz. has the weight to cast out there and the correct warbling action. I have caught fish smaller than the lure on them, so you DON'T need anything smaller. Anything smaller will not cast correctly or move correctly. Nickel and Gold are the only colors you need to buy. (Don't bother with the Gold/Red. Get the gold one with the red spots and white spots. Yep, the one that's always out of stock.) I do not ever remember catching trout on anything else, except maybe Copper - when I didn't have a gold or nickel left in my lure box. The only other good lure is the Thomas Colorado in 1/4 ounce. It is almost the same as the Cyclone and works just as well. Forget the Rooster Tails, Mepps and Panther Martins. If you want to catch trout anywhere, use the three lures I just talked about. My red brothers sometimes put a nightcrawler on them for even better results, but I don't bait fish any more. Buy as many of these lures as you can afford whenever you find them, because most retail locations don't even know about them. If I'm wrong, you can hunt me down and shoot me.

The Cyclone is an exellent action spoon lure. However, it loses it excellent erratic lateral actions in retrieval rates beyond a slow-medium retrieve. At faster retrieval rates the lure goes into axial rotation losing it's most desired action(s). This can be overcome by using additional simple elements to the spoon body which can make the total lure have incredible overall actions even into faster retrieval rates where the lure will achieve even better overall actions.

Its steelhead season here in great lakes. After chucking Cleo's for an hour without a hit I figured hey I want to try this lure. It was a Thomas cyclone. Second cast back out wham it was fish on. The spoon was down its throat! After carefully getting the hook out and releasing the fish three casts later I hooked into a massive 10lb buck. After a lengthy battle and nearly spooling me out in the lake I got him in took a pic and let him go. (I hate keeping fish because there trying to ensure the future for us and they give you fun why kill them for that) I'm now a firm believer in Thomas! No other spoon will ever be in my tackle bag, only spoon in my tackle bag will be Thomas! Thanks fishusa!
