Work great - cut through 12 inches of ice in very quickly. The new type mounting screws (hex head) that came with the blades are difficult to apply as they interfere slightly with the auger itself. I just used the old screws (allen head) and there was no problem.

While the initial cost may scare you away, after purchasing I was shocked at how much of a difference there was with the new blades compared to my old blades. I would say the cutting time was cut in at least half. My ten year old daughter can even pop a hole in the ice now. I have a twenty two year old Mora and feel this was one of the best outdoor purchases I've ever made!

Many years ago I bought an ice auger that nobody seemed to have. It's cutting system was like a Propeller. It's blades were not detachable. Once this became dull it never would cut as it did before. I went and bought a set of Mora ice auger blades and drilled through the blades on the shaft and attached them with the screws. I had to use the tiny shim that used to come with them, it doesn't anymore to get the proper angle. I dare say there is NOT anything out there today that will cut as smooth and with hardly any effort as this auger. My Dad had a power auger, I could beat him up to two feet of ice. Not all day of corse. That's the TRUTH TOO! I can think of two people that were willing to go out and buy me a new hand auger of my choice, if they could have this one. Not a chance, especially now with the new Mora blades adapted to the propeller type shaft.
