    This review is for the ultra light baitcasting rod. This rod is great for the type of bass fishing that I do, which is a kind of hybrid bfs style for smaller bass. The rod is light, well-balanced, and has a slightly parabolic bend. Paired with a decent bfs reel, it will cast a 1/8 oz wacky worm rig a country mile. While a two piece configuration is not my preferred set up, the join is tight and not a stiff spot. Overall fit and finish are very good. The rod has excellent sensitivity to light bites. I will probably buy another one at some point.

    These rods use a nice blank with a fairly soft tip and decent power; they are a good choice for trolling and bottom bouncing. The downside is Ive had more than one with very soft eyes that are easily damaged and, the cork handle is more of a cork wrap that is not overly robust. Not the indestructible quality of the original Uglys, but still a decent option.

    I have three of the 6'6" 2-piece MH/Fast rods that I use for cat fishing and also casting/trolling crank baits for bass (mostly small mouth) and casting spoons for pike (Lew's BB1 Pro & Shimano Curado DC reels). My lifestyle needs a two-piece rod and these are ideal for bottom fishing and sensitive enough for casting. I have a 40 year old Shakespeare Carbon Micro UL and also a 30+ year old Ugly Stik with a Mitchell 300 that keeps soldiering on. You cannot lose at the price point for serviceability. I've owned and snapped "nicer rods" but the Ugly Stiks just keep soldiering on and doing their job well.
