Generally use very thin 6-8 lb leaders for steelhead, however don't be afraid to try this thin 12 lb it's as thin as many popular 8lb fluoro on the mkt. great if you fish fast water or when river is running high and you find that slow water but the fish takes you into the fast current. Nice to have 12 lb on !! A bit expensive for only 25 yards wish it was bigger spool.

For my disappointment stencil strength of last purchased #20, #25 and #30 Seaguar Primer and Seaguar Salmon is much lover then stated on the label. I've test it very carefully with plenty moisturized and accurately tied knots (no overlaps and kinks) with calibrated spring weight. Results were averaged and have shown strength about 30% (sometimes more) lower then stated. In parallel I made tests of Maxima and CXX P-line mono. Strength much higher that on the label (about same 30%). By the way, it is related not only to Seaguar fluorocarbon. Almost all FC from different manufacturers much weaker then advertised. Of course you could use FC lines because their some advantages but keep in the mind there lover strength.
