Rapala Original 09

The Original 09's have always been my go to lure when fishing spring Walleyes and the abuse they take it was time to replace them
These dogs can hunt!!!

I've been using the Rapala floaters for years and of all the lures I've used including spinners, spoons, jerkbaits, or soft plastics these deliver the fish more excitingly than any other. Just throw it out there into moving water and let it do it's thing..............wiggle. The fish come looking for it, you just do the hooking. If you snag give the line a little slack and the lure easily floats clear of an obstruction. If I had to choose a favorite color it'd be the Brown Trout pattern, for whatever reason trout love this color. My only complaint is this site offered a free shirt if you ordered 5 or more Rapala lures, I ordered 7 on the last order and got no shirt. By the way tho, I wear a LARGE.
best bluegill bait

I love this lure (size 03 chartreuse) to catch bluegills. When the water is calm I just twitch it and they strike it. Sometimes I tip it with a waxie.
Best Lure Period

The size 3 floating Rapala is the best lure you can have as a shore angler. No matter what you're after. Bluegill, trout, pike, bass, walleye it doesn't matter this lure gets them

I use the size 7 for best results.
Great bass lure.
Out of all the lures i have for large mouth bass, i like to keep this in my tackle box. This thing catches bass when i can't get em with a senko worm. Personally, I use #5 in silver that's a 1/4 in. and 1/4 oz weight perfect size for all rods and locations. With that being said, I'll head to my local lake on a sunny day, find a clear spot with nothing in my way or stuff i can get caught on. I'll throw it out and twitch/jerk it for a few seconds, wait, reel in the slack and repeat till i get something, Fish on!
Never leave home without it

Any which way I've fished (boat, kayak, shore, lake, river, pond, trolling, casting) I've always have an original Rapala with me. I always have a size 5 and 7 in a couple of colours but my go to are silver, orange (fluorescent red) and clown. They have introduced other colours, which come and go, but Blue, Gold, Perch, and Yellow are the other standards for me. I've caught everything with them.
Like It. Great first generation shallow water strike provoker.
by IanLJones -
It's the original first generation balsa minnow bait - its design has withstood the test of time. It has a distinctive 'wounded-minnow' slow rolling wobble that provokes smashing strikes. Pike tear it to bits - it is fragile so I would avoid putting it in jackfish hangouts. It doesn't cast terribly well so you you need to us 6 pound line to get any distance out of it. However, it is good in shallow water, 3-4' optimum, for Large and Smallmouth Bass in particular - it can even be fished as a surface lure (twitch BANG). In moving water in shallow rivers it is great for Walleye, especially early in the morning and at dusk. I've caught a lot of Lake Trout on it trolled with wire line, on the down rigger, and flatlining in cold spring water. Pretty much, a need to have lure for working the shallows - there are no obvious replacements that are as good. Call me old fashioned but I prefer the Gold and Silver foil colours.
F18 is a top producer for mid water musky!
by Nick F.
This lure has caught 10 musky in as many outings this spring. Fish seem to find the firetiger and hot steel F18s irresistible, so much so that they need replaced as the teeth marks are obscuring the color patterns! Trolling on steel adds even more exaggerated action and a great fight!
I have used these lures for 40+ years and have caught many different species on them. Casting, trolling, surface twitching - the classic floater still gets the job done.
Deadly on Trout!

Used this on trout for the first time, hands down beat out all of my "trusty old lures".

Unfortunately, I bought a too large Rapala for the river I fish in
by CRACKER -
I use it for all fresh water dark and clear waters. Needs more weight for casting. The 3 trebble 5" five to 11 foot deep diver is the best made.

I have used this only once for 10 minutes and caught a trout. Rapalas have great reputation
