    Used for stealhead in rivers of the Great Lakes. Took the punishment of big fish all day long. Ran great right out of the box.

    In the 1980s Rapala modernized its excellent Original Floating (balsa wood) minnow by redoing it in hard plastic with less buoyancy - the result was this terrific lure. The rolling wobble of the Original was if anything improved by the new plastic, and this is a tough lure that survives being chomped on by Northern Pike. Thes are best used casting in 10' of water or less or trolled in 10'-15' of water. The Silver (chrome), Gold and Smelt finishes are my favourites for clear Canadian lakes. The newly issued natural finishes all look incredibly good for clear water and finicky fish. My only beef is with the three treble hooks on the larger versions - these are likely to injure fish you want to release and also possibly injure you - best to remove one of the hooks!!! - this is 2017 not 1957 and we really don't require lure bristling with hooks. Nevertheless, highly recommended.
