Okuma Convector Line Counter Reel
Okuma Convector Line Counter Reels offer premium components and performance at a value price. These powerful reels are built with aluminum and stainless steel at all critical stress points, plus a Mechanical Stabilization System, to help maintain alignment.
The redesigning of the Convector takes this reel to a new level. This reel features quick-set anti-reverse, utilizing a special oversized one way roller bearing, to eliminate all handle play and guaranteeing immediate hook sets. The Convectors have three ball bearings - two stainless steel sealed bearings and one one-way roller bearing. They also include Okuma's new drag material, Carbonite. This proprietary drag balances the two most important qualities in a drag without sacrificing either - smoothness and high-end drag pressure. These new drags have the softness to set the hook in the soft mouth of a lake trout, and the drag pressure to crank a running tuna to the boat.

Great Reel, Great Price
by JackR -
Got the CV-20DLX (LH) to match up with my SST-C-1062M for trolling and mooching for Salmon. Could not have asked for a better combination. The line counter is invaluable while mooching and the strength of the reel is ridiculous. I like this reel so much that I bought the same one two more times for my spare trolling rods.

Quality Line Counter Reel
by Max -
I was looking for a mid-range priced linecounter reel for downrigging. The description and Convector reel caught my attention. It appeared be of high quality and reasonably priced. When I received it, put it in my hands, and spooled-up I was impressed. I would put it up against any similar reel in the $200 and up range. Smooth, quiet, opertion of gears; and the instant anti-reverse is as advertised.
great linecounter reel

Just An Awesome Reel
by Dano -
This reel went way past my expectations. The body is graphite and light weight. The reel comes with a power handle but included in the box is the walleye double grip handle. Speaking of the grips they are a nice rubber that wont slip. The line counter works well, the handle turns well as doesn't feel out of balance. The drag system is nice and the size of this will fit most of your trolling needs for trout, walleye, northern pike, etc. I think it would also hold up for Musky; I am going to give it a shot this year. I bought this and a Daiwa Accudepth to compare side by side before I purchase more to complete my setup - hands down this is a better reel.
Hard to Beat
by Dogfather -
I found this reel to be hard to beat unless you are going spend the extra dough for a Shimano Tekota. You would be hard pressed to find a better value or that much better of a reel until you get to the Shimano level. I also have several Okuma Magda's, but find the Convector to be much superior and would recommend spending the extra money for the Convector .For the price and quality the Convector is a solid performer that you won't have to worry you made a mistake in buying one. Very smooth reel with good drag. I am very happy with mine. I have had Daiwa Accudepths and find the Convector to be a better reel to them as well.

Like the left hand crank . Excellent reel . I bought 6 reels and will buy more . FISH USA is a 5 STAR company . Thank you

Great reel for the price. I use these on saginaw bay and they work flawlessly. I have the now discontinued cabelas depth master gold reels for about 6-7 years and I believe okuma made those also. I prefer the left hand models. We also reeled in 15 lb. catfish with ease, very smooth drag. FISH USA is also a 5 star company. I purchased 6 of these reels and will buy more.

I've been using connectors in every size for salmon, lakers, Browns, walleye, striped bass for 15 yrs now. Never had a failure and I fish 2-3 times a week. If you need parts it's tough, you have to find them online. No complaints from me
Nice Reel for the Price
by Alewife Impersonator -
It's hard to find a reel to hold enough lead core line and be paired with a light rod to fish those mid season Trout . This reel does a pretty good job of it . The CV-30 will hold 10 colors of 36 pound lead core and is a great bang for the buck!!
Good mid-priced reel
by Andy S -
I find the Convectors to have a good value to quality ratio in the mid-priced reels. I run 10 of the convectors on our salmon boat spooled for dipsy, leadcores, and coppers. The high speed return gearing work well for the longer leadcores and coppers. I would recommend these reels if you are looking for a quality reel without spending more than $100. The quality of the Convectors together with FishUSA's excellent customer service makes this a winning combination.
We use CV30DS models spooled with 30lb mono for muskie trolling on lake St. Clair and have had no problems at all with them. They have a nice drag system and are a great value.
Great reel for the cost dependable

Dependable Okuma Convector Reels. Being a Charter Boat Captain on Lake Erie I have always used Okuma Convector Reels, as I reel in those Trophy Walleye's on Lake Erie out of Ashtabula on my 30' Foot Cherokee Boat. Dependable Okuma Convector Reels.
I've got over 30 Okuma's

The muskie winch
by Sig Hansen -
Mainly used for muskies and trolling dipsy divers for walleye on Erie. This is the tried and true choice of most of my fishing pertners. For the price I think it's the best line counter out there. Diawa has a choppy drag and touchy drag setting. The Convector is way smoother in both departments. I already have some.... just adding to the arsenal!
