This is an absolute piece of junk! Broke into three pieces on second deployment, not the same as older blue diamond rods. Warranty is a joke, paid 65.00, cost to return 20.00, cost from Okuma to replace is 20.00, Total cost for 65.00 rod equals $105 not including tax on original purchase. Bottom line dont waste your money on this rod

8'6" ML downrigger rod. Always hard to review something that hasn't been used so I'm not sure how meaningful this really is. First impression is good. Nice rod and it looks exactly like what I wanted. Won't be able to use it until the Spring so I can't comment on durability.

Purchased two Blue Diamond rods 3 months ago. Both tips had chipped ceramic guides within a month causing the loss of a mag dipsy, flasher, and a plug (all new) due to the braid cutting at the sharp chipped ceramic. Last week I noticed a ceramic guide was missing. I use 12 other rods none of which have had an issue - all new 6 months ago. They are all treated with care and have storage holders when in (sideboard or vertical) and out of the boat. (overhead mounted) The dealer replaced the tips in store. Haven't had the guide insert looked at yet. Did not purchase at FishUSA but I do shop there too.

I bought the 8'6" ML version of this rod as I was looking for a downrigger rod with good action to troll Maine lakes. These fit the bill nicely. They load up nicely and have great flex for fighting smaller fish which is important to me as the average trout or salmon here is 2-5lbs.

I have not fished with it yet, but it seems plenty stout to run dipsys. I bought two rods, but one did not come with tags and there's a couple of minor scratches. Return? Showroom model? Not bad enough to return it, but a little disappointing. This is the forth rod in this series I've purchased and I think they present good value.
