I don't have much experience with pins but I've fished this reel for a few weeks now and I am in love. I was able to pick up the wallis cast my second time out. I know the general consensus is this is a starter reel, but I am satisfied so far. I'm sure at some point I'll upgrade. If your looking to get into pinning and don't want to spend a ton of money, this is a good set up.

I'm on here to try and overcome the "just go buy a kingpin" crowd. If you're buying this reel, you're either A) not made of money and have to get some bang for your buck or B) new to pinning, and you're not sure if its for you or C) BOTH! I was both when I started pinning a few seasons back, and I do not regret starting on the O Aventa. Not for one second. Yes, the start up is crap compared to an 800 dollar reel, yes it's a bit heavy, but I caught a zillion fish on it and learned the ropes of pinning with it. Can't say enough good about this reel as a starter

I have become interested in center pinning. I researched and chose the Okuma Aventa as my beginner's reel. I feel I made a very good choice. The machining is excellent and appears up to the task. Biggest fish so far about 15 #.. The reel spins smoothly and is above my newbie skill level, but also, in my pre -purchase research, I found out that very advanced upgrade bearings are available, inexpensive and easily, user- installable . Fish USA has the best prices and FAST delivery.
