Best Leader Material I've used
by leifjohn -
I like to use this for the butt section of my fly fishing leaders. It is stiffer than they green and carries the fly out better with less tangles. It is very abrasive resistant.
The only leader I use

This the best and it has been that way for over 20 years for me. It has never failed

I have recently begun to tie my own leaders for salmon, browns and steel head. I asked my local fly shop owner what he uses when he guides on the salmon river. You guessed it...Maxima Chameleon. It's great to work with and the strength is unparalleled.
great leader builder material

Great for building leaders for dry fly fishing and also for streamer leaders.

Seems stiffer than the Ultragreen, which makes no sense. Otherwise, I'd go with a Flourocarbon leader over this anyday.
Great for most fly fishing
I have used this for over 40 years of flyfishing for everything from permit & mahimahi to crappie& catfish. Its abrasion resistance is far superior to most leaders (try it against coral) and strength is legendary.Stiffness may be a bit too much for some who use very light tippets regularly for dries (clear or UG seem less stiff v. chameleon). It forms blood knots better than most other material.Cheap & effective!
I use maxima chameleon for all my leaders, this is a great product from 25lb to 2lb.

Great leader material
Some of the best leader available
by Ken -
I've found Maxima leader to be very strong yet extremely easy to handle and knot. If tying your own leaders, like I do, then I highly recommend using the Chameleon leader in the butt section and UltraGreen in the front section.
Passed some on to a friend who liked it.

Excellent for building specific hand made tapered leaders
I have used Maxima leader material for 10 yrs now. As a fly guide. Nothing beats this stuff. Price, ease of use, toughness. It has it all.
Best tippet at twice the price
Been using for 7 years (ultragreen). Tried others, nothing comes close for the price.
Maxima tippet 5x
by m,souza -
The line has a great color ,but seems to lack the strength of other 5x tippet material, such as the "RIO POWERFLEX" wich has a 5LB test, compared to a 3LB test.
Easier to Handle

Maxima is essential for building any type of fly leader.
Saved a lot making my own tapered leader
by flytyer -
Always thought making your own tapered leaders was time consuming and wouldn't be as strong as a manufactured tapered leader. I was wrong in both cases. With this material and a blood knot tool, it doesn't get any easier. Will end up saving well over a $150.00 making my own and produce twice as many with this material. I can change tippet strenghts as needed right on the stream.

great tippet - excellent knotting and knot strength
maxima leader is the only leader we use
by fishface -
We only use maxima leader for steelhead fishing. Hands down the best there is.
