Product Details

Hareline Lateral Scale Opal Mirage Flashabou will light up your fly pattern with a single strand. This Flashabou is horizontally crimped and adds lots of flash to flies, especially when used as a lateral line on baitfish streamer patterns. Not only is this material flashy, but durable as well.

Each package contains 1 Lateral Scale Opal Mirage Flashabou.

Have just tied a bunch of streamers using the wider lateral scale. You definitely will need 3/0 or similarly tough thread cause this material is really hard to tie down; much more challenging to tie as wing, collar, etc than flashabou & similar tinsel. I am tempted to order some narrow size to compare,as I suspect the smaller diameter stuff will tie down more easily. However,it seems to be much flashier than most any other material, and gives off that"scaled" look, too. Also its toughness ought to be more abrasion resistant, especially in rivers & near coral. Cannot wait to try out my cone head streamers on the channel cats in the local lake, smallmouth in the White R., or 'cuda off the lower keys.My guess is that the wider diameter lateral scale will be best suited to saltwater, pike, etc streamers.
