With demand exploding for premium, high-performance Centerpin rods, G. Loomis has produced a new series of rods that will cover all your float needs, from the Great Lakes to the Pacific Northwest. The G. Loomis Centerpin Float Rods have very light yet strong tips that say goodbye to "tip sag." While other manufacturers have to add more material to create long rods like these, resulting in heavy sagging tips, G. Loomis chose to use their proprietary GLX graphite.

G. Loomis Salmon & Steelhead Centerpin Float Rods are finished with extra long cork and composite handles with Pac Bay sliding rings for perfect balance and reel positioning. G. Loomis then matched the finest high frame titanium RECOIL guides from REC for higher sensitivity and reduced weight. The result is the lightest, fastest rods of this length anywhere. The GLX graphite blanks are finished in a flat grey color.

Specific Rod Details

STR1352GLX - The 11'3" length makes this the perfect cp rod for the famous creeks of Pennsylvania and Indiana, and anywhere breaking through brush or fishing tight water is required. This rod has a soft enough tip to protect light leaders where water clarity requires them, yet maintains the power to turn a fresh run steelhead anywhere.

STR1562GLX - This rod is a great all-around rod no matter where you fish. The 13 foot length and high speed make casting floats of any size a dream. Its super light weight balances with almost any pin reel making long days with no arm fatigue possible for the first time.

STR1563GLX - Big water, heavy flows and large floats are no match for this 3 power. It's hard to believe a rod this light can handle 8-12 pound leaders and still have the speed to set hooks at distances never thought possible. This rod will also double as a coho/king rod in waters from BC to Oregon.

STR1803GLX - 15 foot, fast and light, never before has this option been available. With a 8-12 pound line rating this rod can master anything from the pier heads of Wisconsin to the Manistee, Thomson or the mighty Niagara. The extra length helps aid in extra long casts of oversized floats, keeping the line off the water and tiring fish in the largest steelhead water in the world.

You get what you pay for

Other than the sliding ring reel seat and the fact that there is no hook keeper, this is a Super Rod.

My Fault! In store pickup and The rod was tubed and packaged for delivery. Took it out for a walk on elk and hooked three steel head and 3 small trout and a few suckers. The rod lacks backbone for fresh steelhead. I purchased the 13 ft. Light without inspection but would have purchase the medium,,,Can't fix stupid! . The line egress is poor compared to my other rods. Although, , running 12 lb line on a 10lb line Rod. ( reel is a KP Spooled with Sig Lon F Monofilament) . Loomis makes great rods that come with a premium price but my opinion is this particular rod is light for fresh steelhead. If purchasing a float rod consider a Three Piece for the convenance of storage and travel. Make It A Great Day!

This is hands down the best rod i have used for centerpinning. It's light, accurate casting, forgiving enough in the tip section to protect lighter leaders but still has enough back bone to turn big fish. I have fished the 13' light action for 5 years and loved it so much that the season after I bought it I also bought the 11'3" light action and have been fishing that for the past 4. As to the claims of the cork falling out of the handles, I have not seen that. I do not treat my gear poorly, but I do fish hard around 100 days during the steelhead run. In a previous review an angler got called out for saying that the guides freeze, they do, there is no magic built into these guides. Guides icing up is part of steelhead fishing. The recoil guides do help to an extent but if you fish all day in below freezing temps they'll still get iced up.
