dardevle spoon

by disgonefishin -

This is the only lure we have been able to catch fish on at Poage Lake in Colorado. Always get our limit. Nice action through the water. Would recommend to anyone. We have only used the yellow with red diamonds.

Nothing Better

by Raven -

Eppinger Dare Devle spoons are a tradition in New England. They work for a variety of fish and come in more color and size combinations than I can count. I prefer the old reliable red and white imps and dare devlet for pickerel, larger for pike. Using a steel leader is advisable and doesn't adversely affect the action of the lure. For just about any other fish including large and small mouth bass, white/yellow perch, brown trout, rainbow trout, etc, I prefer the red on yellow "5 of Diamonds." I've even caught alligator gar down south with this lure. It is my go-to lure, top of my box.

Here fishy fishy...

by CastAwayJeff -

What hasn't been said about this timeless spoon?!?! One of THE all time best lures. If it swims, it'll attack it. I've caught several species in PA on a Dardevle. Bullheads too! Just keep a variety of sizes and patterns on hand for when the fish stop biting. Zing one of these into their lair a few times and hold on!

The Trout Wanted Nothing but these Daredevles!

by IdRatherBeFishing -

While October fishing in a gin-clear run in New York State I threw Rapalas, Rooster Tails, Panther Martins - nothing! As soon as I put on a Orange/Black Spot/Red Chunk Skeeter series it started going off! The rainbows couldn't get enough of that spoon. I threw a Chartreuse/Fluorescent Orange Diamonds Midget series from shore down at the lake and landed some nice browns as well.

Is A Daredevle Worth The Price? Answer: yes-ish.

by iljFISH -

This lure's solid brass material and complex shape give it an active wobbling darting action that is not matched by its similar looking and cheaper competitors, that are either stamped out of cheap steel sheet, made of thinner brass, or lacking the subtly tapered shape along the edges. Is it perfect? No. First: the paint used it fragile and prone to chipping, scratches and scrapes that degrade its finish (in common with most of its competitors). This can be fixed by application of a tough brush on clear-coat (water or epoxy based), but why wouldn't Eppinger do this? Second: the quality of the hooks and split rings is rather dodgey - they look like the same hooks and hardware as used in lures manufactured in the 1960s and 1970s. This can be fixed by replacing the hooks with quality items (e.g., round bend thin wire treble hooks, premium split rings), and adding a second split ring on the nose. The classic red&white colour is hard to beat.

Great casting spoon. This spoon is good for type of big fish. The other fish leave it alone.

Five of Diamonds

by Hex

This is the perfect lure for catching pickerel in south NJ, been known to win many contests. I don't have a clue why this works so well other than the swaying motion that seems to irk the fish into biting, esp after repeated casts in same spot. The yellow/brass colors work well in brown cedar water, hate to lose them, wish they had weedless hooks to cast in heavy cover
