I love drennan flourocarbon. I learned of it. Fishing for steelhead in New York. I swear buy this product. I've landed. Many of 15 pound steelhead on 6 pound drennan flourocarbon. I use it for ice Fishing in maine as well. Highly recommend drennan.

I recently purchased 4 spools of Drennan Fluorocarbon Leader in various sizes for steelhead fishing on the Salmon River in NY. After opening the packaging, I noticed a strong odor, similar to manure, emanating from the spools. The smell was not detectable while the spools were contained in the original plastic packaging. I am not sure if this foul smelling odor is the result of a manufacturing defect of either the plastic spool or the fluorocarbon itself. Perhaps there was some post production storage issue prior to my purchase. Bottom line is this stuff smells really bad. Regardless of the cause of the odor, I intend to follow up with FishUSA's customer service. I personally find catching steelhead to be difficult under normal conditions. Since steelhead possess an excellent sense of smell, I would definitely not recommend this product.

This is my second review since 2018. The stuff is still the best I've found and I've tried them all. My initial review I stated I wished it came in larger spools, but I take it back. I prefer the smaller spools simply because it expires. I'll go through 4 or 5 (50) meter spools a year but the line is always good. I use this stuff for everything from bass rigs to Salmon/Steelhead.
