A bluefin tuna turning a trolling spread into a full-drag sprint puts every reel component under pressure, and the Accurate ATD Platinum Two-Speed Conventional Reel brings the drag strength, gearing, and cranking power needed for serious offshore work. Accurate's TwinDrag Technology applies smooth, consistent pressure through large drag washers for balanced stopping power against yellowfin tuna, bluefin, marlin, and other big-game species. CNC-machined billet construction adds rigidity and precision, while oversized stainless steel gears and shafts handle punishing loads. Seven Class 5 ABEC stainless steel bearings support smooth operation, and two stainless steel anti-reverse dogs provide immediate holding power when a fish turns back against the reel.

Two-speed gearing gives anglers the flexibility to gain line quickly in high gear and shift down for added torque when a heavy fish digs deep beside the boat. The low gear stays engaged and meshes with the high gear to drive the selected speed, helping maintain dependable gear engagement under pressure. Heat-treated pinion gears add strength where the drivetrain takes heavy loads, complementing the oversized gear system during prolonged stand-up fights, rail fishing, trolling, and live-bait presentations. From putting pressure on a tuna during a deep circle to recovering line after a charging marlin changes direction, the ATD Platinum combines controlled drag pressure with heavy-duty mechanical strength for demanding big-game fishing.
