The Penn Senator Star Drag Trolling Reel combines classic durability with the strength needed for offshore trolling applications. It features reinforced Bakelite sideplates with stainless steel rings for added structural integrity under load, along with a machined and anodized aluminum spool built to handle heavy mono or braid. Internally, the marine-grade bronze main gear pairs with a stainless steel pinion gear to deliver smooth, reliable cranking power. A multi-disk star drag system applies consistent drag pressure, while two shielded stainless steel ball bearings help maintain smooth operation under strain. The stainless steel reel stand adds rigidity to the frame, and the convertible power handle allows for right- or left-handed use. A heavy-duty clicker rounds out the build, offering reliable bait strike indication during long trolling passes. Proven over generations, the Senator remains a trusted tool for serious saltwater anglers chasing big fish.
