The Penn Authority Spinning Reel sets a new benchmark for saltwater spinning performance, combining unmatched sealing, structural strength, and precision gearing for demanding applications. Rated IPX8, the fully sealed body and spool prevent water intrusion even when submerged, giving surf, inshore, and offshore anglers the confidence to fish through heavy spray and dunkings. Its rigid full metal body, sideplate, and rotor maintain structural integrity under heavy drag loads, while CNC Gear Technology pairs stainless steel main and pinion gears for maximum torque and long-term resilience. The sealed Slammer drag system incorporates Penn’s proven Dura-Drag material to apply smooth, powerful drag pressure during extended fights. A 12+1 stainless steel bearing system supports fluid operation, and the Leveline slow oscillation system lays line evenly to reduce friction and improve casting distance. A spare Hypalon handle knob is included for anglers who prefer a softer grip with added traction in wet conditions. Every component of the Authority is engineered to perform under the harshest saltwater abuse, making it Penn’s most advanced spinning reel to date.
