The Hare's Ear Nymph - 2 Pack gives trout anglers one of the most versatile nymph patterns in fly fishing, matching a wide range of subsurface food with a rough, buggy profile trout struggle to ignore. Often referred to as a gold ribbed hare's ear nymph or GRHE, this pattern can stand in for mayfly nymphs, stonefly nymphs, caddis larvae, and even scuds or shrimp when you drift it close to the bottom. Its flashy rib and loose dubbing create a lifelike, disheveled look that often pulls strikes from brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, and steelhead in riffles, runs, lakes, and ponds. Fish it on a 45-degree cast with a dead drift, run it under a strike indicator in swift current, lead it through pocket water on a high-stick approach, or suspend a lighter version just under the surface to suggest a hatching insect. Each fly features a Daiichi nymph hook with a down eye, 1X strong wire, 1X long shank, and sproat bend, and comes in Natural in sizes 12, 14, and 16.
