When copper lines start ripping and planer boards surge back on a screaming king salmon, the Shimano Charter Special Lever Drag Reel gives charter captains and weekend trollers the control and durability needed to stay buttoned up. This price-effective level wind reel combines an aluminum spool with a reinforced graphite frame and graphite side plates, creating a lightweight yet solid platform that resists corrosion in freshwater and saltwater environments. Oversized gears increase cranking power for Chinook, coho, lake trout, and steelhead, while the counter balanced handle reduces wobble during high-speed retrieves and the large handle knob delivers a secure grip under heavy load.

The easy-to-operate lever drag system adjusts instantly with the flip of a lever, and a push-button in front of the lever increases drag pressure on the fly before returning to the original setting with a simple reset. A non-disengaging level wind ensures even line lay during fights, a built-in clicker supports trolling applications, and corrosion-resistant S A-RB stainless steel ball bearings last up to 10 times longer than standard stainless bearings in high salinity conditions, making this reel a proven favorite on Great Lakes salmon and steelhead charters and fully approved for saltwater use.
