The Shimano Aldebaran BFS Baitcasting Reel is born to play the bait finesse system game, combining its lightweight magnesium frame with a specialized braking system to cast light tackle effectively. Shimano incorporates its Finesse Tune Brake (FTB) system on the Aldebaran BFS. Removing the braking unit's weight from the spool and moving it onto the palming side-plate means it takes an angler less force to turn, which is a distinct advantage when casting the lightest BFS baits. FTB is unlike traditional magnetic brake systems that apply equal force throughout the cast and ultimately limit casting distance. At the risk of getting a little wonky here, the FTB braking system captures the centrifugal force of an angler's cast and applies it to the magnetic brakes to slow down the spool only when necessary. In short, FTB attains the best spool speed for casting lighter lures, which you can still fine-tune with an external dial for adjustments on the fly or by adding/removing its braking magnets.

The Aldebaran BFS reel relies on a MagnumLite (MGL) Spool III, which helps reduce start-up inertia for better control and accuracy of your casting. Thanks to the MicroModule Gear technology, the gear tooth design is ultra-refined, resulting in seamless engagement and power for uncompromised strength, noise reduction, and improved smoothness while cranking. There's so much more to the Aldebaran BFS that it stands as the pinnacle of BFS technology. Shimano's Aldebaran BFS combines high-performance and lightweight construction to make the most of your finesse presentations.

• Shimano's (FTB) Finesse Tune Braking system is a revolutionary design that capitalizes on the centrifugal force of casting motion to apply varying amounts of magnetic braking directly to the spool – anglers gain unparalleled control when fishing with lightweight lures
• MagnumLite (MGL) Spool III reduces inertia by about 15% compared to the second-generation MGL Spool for unparalleled casting performance
• e-Exciting Drag Sound technology enables the drag sound on a baitcasting reel without using the function of a rattle or clicker, making it easier to know if a fish is pulling drag
• HAGANE Body is a metal reel body with high rigidity and impact resistance to nearly cease any reel body flexing, in turn increasing cranking power while fighting fish
• MicroModule Gear system creates a smooth retrieve by utilizing smaller teeth to increase the number of contact points between the drive gear and pinion gear
