McFly Foam

McFly Foam makes a superior egg pattern fly. It is easier to work with than traditional yarn. It ties a tighter, more round egg. I won't use yarn anymore for egg patters. McFly Foam is the best.

McFantastic

Let me just start by saying I love McFly foam. My philosophy on tying is "I'd rather slowly tie one excellent fly, than quickly tie 2 lousy ones". I take my time, I'm pretty anal about my glo-bug shape and size, as well as blood dot placement and size. Glo yarn is a joke compared to this stuff. With that said, it loves to stick to rough skin, which is a pain, but worth it considering the quality

Excellent Material for Glo Bug Eggs

Mcfly foam makes perfectly round Glo Bug Egg flies easy to tie. McFly foam comes in a variety of good colors. I find tying with Mcfly foam is easier than using yarn and catch alot of steelhead.
Great Stuff!

McFly Foam was referred to me, and it is incredibly easy to use, especially with the Glo Bug Dispenser. It makes some awesome-looking eggs, and it comes in a variety of awesome colors... every color I could need to catch fish. It does get caught on everything... any cracks in your fingers and you're trailing little bits of it everywhere.
easy eggs!

Great product overall but it is dificult to use with rough hands, snags but does not effect tying much if any.
da best!

By far the best for tying egg patterns of any type. The yarn is alot tighter than glo bug yarn making perfect eggs a norm not a rare occurence. The colors are covered in almost any direction and I especially like this for tying small size 16 to 20 patterns.
Best Egg material in the world
by OhioFlyHeader -
I tie a lot of eggs for steelhead and have tried many materials - McFlyFoam is heads and shoulders above the rest. I am no expert at tying flies, but I can make 30+ good flies an hour with this stuff and a straw. I only wish they had a true red - "bright red" is too orange for me. I have to use other stuff to get a good red.
Best looking eggs

Best Egg Material

I have used two different egg material to make the egg pattern. McFly foam yields a superiorly shaped egg that requires littlee to no "extra" work in shaping. Great colors to choose from.

If you want to tie glo bugs, and don't have days to figure out how to do it with glo bug yarn, use Mcfly foam. Its spongy, which allows you to get your thread wraps close and tight to the hook, which is key to making glo bugs. I still scrap about every 5th glo bug tied with yarn but with Mcfly foam they seem to come out right every time. The down side is that you go through the material much faster than yarn, so it gets spendy quick. Also, glo bug yarn comes in a lot more variety of colors, which is nice. I think Mcfly foam comes in 12 or so colors but I only find one of them useful for steelhead egg paterns.
Great performance!

In the past, I've found it hard to tie good egg patterns. But McFly Foam is by far the best material because it is stretchy - when cut clean, it makes a nice tight ball!
Great Stuff

McFly Foam is the only material I use to tie egg patterns. I have tried some of the other yarns, but this one holds up and keeps its shape the best.
