The G. Loomis IMX-PRO Steelhead Float Casting Rod inspires confidence in hardened steelhead anglers that it's up for the task of fighting and landing these sizeable migratory rainbow trout. The G. Finally received my rod and took it out to test it. I was hoping for something to jump out at me that justify paying a premium price. For a 4 power 10'6 rod, weight and balance wise it felt fine. Didn't feel like a hammer but definitely not featherweight. After watching a review done by Fishing with Rod praising this rod,I was hoping it would be NRX+ special. I really can't find any reason why this rod should cost more than $300-350 retail? I couldn't find any reviews about this rod online and so if this helps anybody considering this rod for the future, here's my thought - don't. The only good quality about this rod is what Rod had stated, it has the ability to handle big fish and at the same time allowing for catching smaller fish to still be enjoyable. Outside of that I think your average angler would be more content buying an Okuma Guide Select Pro which has more models more that Loomis has gutted the line and also a way better warranty. Not to mention that if you break the tip or the top section of your rod, you can simply buy a replacement for only $40. If you're looking for the perfect float rod for steelhead go buy a 9'9 ML model. I'm not going to deal with the hassle of returning this rod so I'll keep it. For the average angler wait until Loomis brings back the 1262 model or go buy the GSP instead!
