Give your nymphs and crustacean patterns a clean, durable shell look with Wapsi Thin Skin, a stretchable thin plastic film that trims easily and lays smooth on the hook. Use it for wing cases on nymphs, backs on scuds and sow bugs, and shells on crayfish and shrimp patterns when you want a crisp top profile for trout, steelhead, smallmouth, and panfish. The material handles flies down to and past size 18, and it comes on a backing so you can cut precise strips without fighting curl or wandering scissors. Choose solid colors for opaque coverage with a matte finish on one side and a shiny finish on the other, pick gator colors for translucent scale-like detail, or tie with mottled oak and mottled bustard options for translucent mottling that mimics natural feather-style patterns.
