I bought this rod to replace a custom (by me, nothing fancy) Alps roller guide wire diver rod. A young fellow that is here sometimes stepped on it. Too busy this winter to build another. On this rod, the windings, high build finish, and socket fit are quite nice. It has a hook keeper loop. The guides appear adequate, not near Alps quality, I do not think they will self destruct. I might put a little Cal's on the axles. I REALLY like the triangle cross section on the foregrip, it seems to be very well bonded to the blank. The problem with the rod: I fish a small boat on Lake Superior. I break my rods down, I use slide divers, and 30 feet of mono will hold the wire tight. The rod halves are different length, the top is 11 inches longer. In my experience, the longevity of 2 PC rods of different lengths is not stellar. Be careful.

I've had so many name brand snap swivels fall apart (usually at a very inconvenient time....sometimes taking a lure along with it) that I've started using these together with FishUSA Premium Rolling Barrel swivels and they're MUCH better (have yet to have one fail...more durable).
