Plain or dressed with half a crawler or minnow works great trolled or jiggled.
A classic lure that is still extraordinarily effective - must have item for tackle box
This is the original Blakemore Roadrunner design from the 1960s which combines the depth-probing effectiveness of a jig with the attraction of a spinner - all the variants (marabou tufted, soft grub equipped, deer hair, tipped with a dead minnow et c.) work very well. It can be fished vertically (e.g., ice fishing) but a better tactic is to cast it out, let it sink to the bottom and then retrieve very slowly in little hops along the bottom. The selection here appears to be aimed at panfish but this lure is a walleye and smallmouth bass killer in the 3/16ths, 1/4 and 3/8 ounce sizes. I wish they had ones with a barb on the lead part to keep on an attached soft bait of my choice. Hard to go wrong with these in play!
