Just purchased this. Its a decent reel albeit a smaller profile than I would have expected for a 1000 size reel. I fished with it today and it handled well. The reason why I am giving this 3 stars is due the price point of the reel at 109. I got this "free" for buying a rod. However, to price this reel at 109 when one could go buy a Diawa Legalis for less money or a Fuego for about the same money or even a Shimano Sahara or a Nasci for 15 dollars more, I would buy any of those over this and twice on Sunday. Like its an okay reel, but the build quality isn't even close to any of those reels.

This reel came with a USA jigging rod and it works great, been using it for verticle jigging on a river. It’s really nice as well. The drag is is very smooth, bail closes easily. Good purchase.

I have fished with the 3000 StormRunner for a year now and let me say that these reels are worth every penny spent. The are smooth as silk and this includes the drag, and stay that way through catching many PNW species of fish. These reels are fantastic and I recommend them to anyone and everyone whom enjoys fishing. FishUSA Rocks!!!

I recently purchased two of these spinning reels — a 1000 and a 3000 size — and I am astonished at the quality Okuma delivers at a very fair, almost unbelievable price point. First they arrived beautifully boxed rather than in a plastic clamshell, they also come with a protective soft storage/carrying case, and the fit and finish of the reels is remarkable. I haven’t fished them yet, but I can already tell that casting is smooth and effortless in practice and the drag is silky smooth. Honestly if I were looking at these in a store and there was no price tag I would assume it’s a $300 reel.
