Be careful buying and using this planer board

This planer board would be okay if the rear release, the red OR16, actually let the yellow front release trip independently when a strike would occur. Even when the line is placed behind the OR16 pin, the clamping force is so high that the front release has no effect until the OR16 rear release is disconnected by hand at the boat. In other words you will have fight the fish plus the board until the rear release is unclamped in the boat. Make sure you hold the board in the boat when unclamping the OR16 because then the front release will then trip from the fish, causing a loss of connection and you will lose the board if done over the water . Maybe some guys may like that but I far prefer the Church planer boards which do not work that way. The Church boards cannot cause the board to be lost since they have a rear pin which allows the line to the lure to slide easily and the only clamping is done by the adjustable yellow front release.
