When Great Lakes salmon, lake trout, or walleye pull hard against a long trolling spread, the Daiwa Saltist Levelwind Trolling Reel provides the capacity, retrieve speed, and cranking power needed to stay in control. Its rugged aluminum frame and sideplate support a lightweight machined aluminum spool, creating a strong platform for demanding freshwater and saltwater use. Depending on the model, Saltist LW reels hold 12-pound monofilament up to 420 yards, 40-pound monofilament up to 310 yards, and Daiwa J-Braid capacities ranging from 40-pound test at 260 yards to 50-pound test at 630 yards. The 2CRBB, 2BB, and 2RB bearing configuration promotes smooth operation while helping resist corrosion. Daiwa’s DIGIGEAR system maintains precise gear contact for consistent winding power, and the Advanced Tournament Drag system quickly applies resistance when a fish strikes. Retrieve rates of 35 or 47.2 inches per handle turn help anglers clear lines, reset presentations, and gain ground on powerful fish during open-water trolling.
