I purchased this reel for my St. Croix mojo ice 24in ultralight that I enjoy using for panfish. Used mono backing and then spooled with 2lb ice braid. Then used a uni to uni knot to connect the braid to a fluorocarbon leaded. I must say that this reel lets the knot pass over the line roller very nicely. I will be buying more of these for ice fishing.

I have used this reel for about a year. I caught some decent-sized bass but nothing to really put it to the test with. Until last week. I was at a local pond and happened to snag a common carp in the tail. Most people know when you snag them in the tail they can pull twice as hard. I had 2 pound test on it. It took me 13 minutes to land this 29" 10-pound carp. The drag got tested and it came through perfectly. And just to note the rod I was using was a Bass Pro Shops Airstream PTC rod and it also handled that large carp perfectly. Very impressed. The line was Lealands Lures Trout Magnet SOS mono. All three impressed me a lot. Get one. You will love it if you love it if you love ultralight. If you have not tried ultralight fishing, do it. You will love it.

Sweet little ultralight reel. A friend, using my Eagle GT ultralight rod with this reel caught a 3+ pound rainbow and was surprised at being able to land it with that setup. Nice drag. Now filled with a second spool from Fish USA with 5# braid and a length of Seauguar 4# Fluorocarbon leader, and the thing casts a 1/8 oz. spoon as far as a 1/4 oz. spoon on mono. If they ever come back in stock may buy another.

    Not as advertised

Posted by Perry on March 28, 2022

Appears to be a nice reel but it is not as advertised as an in between size of 500 to 1000. It is no bigger than my 500 size Shimano.
