I purchased two of these and both had a ridiculous amount of play on the pedestal head. With the downrigger mounted and locked both were movable in all directions due to a poor connection between the pedestal top and the aluminum tower. I traced this problem to a faulty washer on the main connecting bolt - when I replaced these with 27/64ths inside diameter by 45/64ths inch outside diameter black rubber o-rings, and then tightened the bolt down snugly, the units both worked fine. I have informed Cannon about the issue - perhaps they will look in to this. I have a Youtube video that describes the fix which requires tools and o-rings - you can use the Youtube search function to find it, title is 'Cannon 4" Pedestal Swivel Mount product testing and fix' After the fix, you have very nice looking sturdy supports for your down riggers - they look very strong and the locking swivel function is very handy.
