Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Line Counter Reels offer proven performance in a trolling reel. These reels feature a synchronized levelwind system as well as a smooth pulling Carbon Matrix drag system. Each reel is constructed with three shielded stainless steel ball bearings and a corrosion resistant instant anti-reverse bearing for solid hook sets. The mechanical line counter measures feet line as it pulls out for extreme trolling and/or down-rigging accuracy.

          I’ve used Abu Garcia 5500 series reels for more than 45 years and everyone is still in use. I have other line counter reels that are starting to fail. Now I am using 6 Abu Garcia line counter reels for trolling and won’t look back. The only thing I think that needs improving is the clicker switch. Haven’t had a issue with it though. Everything else is ??

          These reels are top of the line. Use them for trolling walleye on Lake Erie. Tried cheaper reels but they are poorly built and just break too easily. I paired the 6500lc up with a 7 shimano talora medium lite and is a great combination.

          I have 6 of these reels (6500) which I use for walleye trolling. I love them. They are compact and are very smooth. I fish them with monofilament and inline planer boards on Lake Erie.
