Report: Started around 1:15 at mid elk. Not much action. Lost what looked to be a big steelie. Walking back to truck and discovered 8 or 10 fish sitting in a small feeder creek. Didnt try my luck just watched em for a bit and left. Moved to upper elk below mekean exit. Landed to right away and that was it. Both were very colored, the first one looked almost black. Black jig and maggots got all 3 strikes. Nothing on egg sacks. Water got dirty around 4 or so. Get em while ya can, the cold is coming. Good luck

Report: Much slower day today, as compared to yesterday. Due to the extreme water clarity, flourocarbon line is advised (although I was fly fishing with standard 3x tippet and caught 3 in 2 hours). Fly fishermen were on phesant tails, hare's ear, and green crystal meth. Spinners were smashing 'em on green egg sacs. Hopefully some rain comes to cloudy up the creeks.

Report: Three of us hit Elk near Folly's about 1pm on Saturday and all had our limit in 2 hours. Single egg patterns (orange) and clousers. Weather and water were great. Left for lower Elk looking for more silver. Saw very few fish on lower Elk and few landed. Picked up a few individual fish along edges.

Sunday, again beautiful weather, but lots of melting ice and slush. Hit Elk above Legion in morning and mid-day and found a lot of fish, including some chrome. Good visibility for sight fishing. White clousers, yellow orange Cryst meth, single eggs. Conservatively landed ~20 fish (hooked in mouth) between three of us. Just good fishing and lots of fish, including some relatively new fish. Not many fisherman away from the Legion pool. Hit Elk again below Folly's after 2 pm. Melting snow and ice had added to flow and color. Harder to see fish. Found some and landed a few.

Great weekend! Left as the rain came.

Tight lines.

Report: fished upper elk on sunday, once we got the holes open enough to fish it was ok, there was a lot of slush and ice on the creek, not frozen all the way thru and hard to move. the water was low but not bad and clear, but not gin, i caught a couple of real fresh cromers and a couple over ten l0 lbs so you have some fresh fish and some really big fish, i got most of mine on egg patters, did catch a couple on a bead head nymph to try and get the fly thru the slush.

Report: good fishing today! orange sucker spawns off the fly rod! slow morning but the evening was very productive with multiple fish landed and even more hookups! raskipp83, its not that people go out there and intentionally snag fish (i mean some do, but not many just because of the risks of hefty hefty fines) but in some areas such as the manchester hole, fish are stacked up so heavy that foul-hooks happen! it just one of those things, and you'll just have to live with it. oh and p.s. if you cut my line i will throw you in the water

Report: Cousin Hoke, Eric and I hit mid Elk about 10:00AM, just as the temp started to climb above freezing. We fished till about 4:00, with hookups all day. Managed to land 18 between the three of us, not counting the many foul hooks, due to the amount of steelies in the creek. All on shiners and egg sacks. Great day to be out and enjoy the beautiful winter landscape.

Report: On the ice at 8:00am along with about 10-15 other guys in huts. Accessed the ice from the dam side. Caught 2 real nice 20" and 22" pike right off the bat in 10' of water. Got them on a glow in the dark eyeball jig tipped with a mealworm. Ice was making real weird sounds, and cracks would form right infront of us as we walked. It was 4-5" where we drilled but I really didnt feel all that safe with the sounds it was making as we walked to and from our spot. We didnt stay long.
Not enough ice on Lake Pleasant either. The bay-open water, it will be another few weeks I think. B Safe

Report: Fished lower Elk in the mornings, upper Elk in the afternoons, caught fish both places. It seemed better up at the flats, even though there was more ice. Single eggs & nymphs worked for me. As far as the count goes, who cares as long as you are catching them. I don't understand the big deal to worry so much about the count. Do the foul hooks count? 14 fish in an hour and a half! What is that 1 fish every 6 minutes. What no fight? Is this for real? This guy should be a guide!

Report: took to old man to erie on his last day of vacation before he goes back to work on monday. Started on the eastside on one of my favorite holes, hooked 14 landed 13 one nice one over 10 lb. Had lunch at the little lighthouse resturant and headed for the nuthouse. As soon as we got to the manchester hole the action started, and the closer it got to dark the hungrier they got. I only fished for about an hour and a half but landed 14 and my dad caught 2. Pink flash jigs were the ticket along with a few caught on single eggs.
If there is any posible way for you to go to the tribs right now GET UP THERE!!!!

Report: made the trip up with my best friend Paul and my brother in law who lives on the Lake. Went straight to Walnut and got a spot on the chutes. We all used fly rods and literally hooked up with 40 fish between the 3 of us. probably only fowl hooked 5. The best day I ever had steel head fishing. I was so happy. when you wake up the next day and your forearms and shoulders are sore from fighting crome all day you know that it was a good day.

Cant wait for the next trip

Tight Lines to all.

P.S. to the guy who fished with us, thanks for all the help we had nettin eachothers fish. It was great meeting ya and hope to see you again.
