Report: Beautiful night on the lake, Capt. Chuckie and crew worked hard, all anglers on board worked hard, but the only problem was the Perch decided to take the evening off. Slow bite. A boat load of anglers caught approx. 100 Perch, a few nice Jumbos, and a few White Perch and big Sheepshead. All in all it was still a great trip.

Report: If anyone was mislead by my earlier post, it wasn't intended to reflect bad judgement on the crew of the Victory. We left as they were boarding and when we passed the area again they were docked. We assumed they went out and came back. Anyway, the weather people forecasted that the winds would die down and there would only be two to three foots waves later in the afternoon. We would have wanted to go out if it wasn't for the kids.

Report: Went out with 5 guys in two boats out to about 57' of H2o and tried to anchor off the point. 2-4' waves blew us around pretty good and neither of us caught any. Moved in closer to about 36' of H2o where we marked a few- and I caught one nice perch but that was the last perch we saw all day. 1 perch between 5 guys and 2 boats! Talked to a few other guys coming in and going out-nothing for anyone. I think the storm the past few days got them all stirred up and going everywhich way.
Even tried the cribs-caught a wall hanger of a gobie but that was about it.

Report: Took the family (6 of us) up to Erie yesterday for some perch fishing aboard the Victory, about a two hour trip. We checked the weather reports first and they were calling for only two foot waves. When we got there, the EJ had already cancelled out because of 7 foot waves. The captain of the victory said he was going out. We decided that if the bay had whitecaps there was no way we wanted to be out on the lake. We took the kids behind the Convention Center and the kids had a ball catching bass, bluegills, and big sheepsheads. When we left we saw that the Victory was already back in. THANKS WEATHER PEOPLE!

     7/20/2008 8:12:35 PM   Report ID: 22277

Report: Another great day with Capt. John on the EJ. We never had to move and several of us limited out, primarily those that didn't have an elaborate rig - no spreaders, no beads, no spinners, no tangled lines (well, not as many as the others). Everyone was catching fish when the bight was on, but when it slowed down, the perch seemed to shy away from the rigs with hardware, but some would hit the simple rigs. The fish were hitting light, and even when close to the bottom, several hit the minnow going up. This caused the rod tip to go slightly slack rather than go down. It tended to look as if your sinker had bounced on the bottom.

Report: Took the neighbor crew and bluntkid walleye fishing out of Ashtabula today, theres fish from the 00 -06 N and the 42 -54 W, Out most productive spot was 42.02.875 and 80.42.655, took 24 walleye on dipsys and riggers with the riggers set @ 70 ft with a 50ft lead, Stinger standards in Monkeypuke being tops deep and Crystalina Pirates 210 on a 3.5 being a close second, the trick was to drill a hole in the water when you found active fish, although that became a bit difficult when the wind kicked up, heard mixed reports for the day, some did well and some struggled, guess thats fishing, oh yea, the big fish was 32" and 11.04 lbs on a certified scale

Report: Went out on the morning run on the EJ. Full boat load of fishermen and fisherwomen. The perch bite was very slow even after 4 moves to get over more aggressive fish. The perch were there but not hitting. I came away with 7 fish. The full moon and wild weather last week may have alot to do with the present situation. The good news, there is always a next time. Thanks for a nice outing. Gary U.

Report: Another beautiful night aboard the Edward-John.1 foot or less waves, beautiful Lake Erie Sunset and some Perch. The bite was a little slow but most anglers aboard caught a decent amount. One young man who's name we will not mention " Justin " got his limit and was catching Perch like it was going out of style. Most folks had a good time and Capt. John and crew did their usual good job. Counted 62 boats in the Perch pack off the point.

Report: Went on the Sunday morning trip on the Victory. The bite was steady for most of the day. Most on the boat either limited out or were close to it. The fish were very biting very light so it took a bit of patience. Overall, it was a good trip despite the wind and rain (good thing the boat is covered). I know I'll definately be back.

Report: Went out on the EJ Friday evening. Water was 'lumpy' and many sick folks. We were put on fish and did ok even with the wave action. About 7:30 the waves decreased a bit or I got use to them more. Most did fair to good. Some limits, most averaged about 17-20 fish. The bite was tough but I managed 24 really nice fish most about 10" 6@12-13". I was happy. The capt. made the ride as comfortable as possible and the entire crew was polite, hard working and interacted with all of the clients. Hope to get out this week atleast a few time if the weather and waves cooperate. Gary U.

Report: Hey ShutUpNFish..... we did good in the same location as you. As a matter of fact that was you at the wheel if I remember right. I guess I was focused on what was going on on deck. But the hot rod seemed to be in the back right corner. Oh that's right..... three of us were reeling them in off that one and you were one of them. Just wanted to keep the fish reports accurate: That rod was at a 3 1/2 setting and 180 back. As long as the guy at the wheel put us on 'em that was the ticket and he did fair to good I'd say. I'd guess about half the eyes came on that program on that side. The rest of the fish came on the other 4-5 rods combined including back rod which was at a 1 setting and 150 back. Not sure exactly what the set up was out the other side other than that they weren't using my harnesses. ;-) The perch came over there and the steeie off the rigger at 51 feet on a watermelon Stinger spoon. Just watch the wheel o.k. Maybe the driver should report the location, weather, and waves and the crew can report what was going on out the back. Oh that's right.... Forget that idea since I'll be driving and barking the orders next time.

Thanks for a good time which did not include the ride back!
