My new go to rod
Comments: The control, sensitivity and strength of this rod are top notch. I use the 13ft model float fishing for steelhead and could not be happier. Handles the biggest fish on as light as 4lb leader.

Good Float Rod
Pros: Light and balanced
Cons: no alignment marks on pieces
Best Uses:
Comments: This is my first float fishing rod, and i did my research before deciding on this one. After reading reviews on this site and others, and looking at rods similar in price points, the Shimano Clarus seemed like a winner and I have not been disappointed. I have fought salmon and trout/steelhead with this during the past fall and current spring fishing seasons. Rod has good action, although it may be a bit softer than some float rods like my buddy's okuma, but I like that in a rod. The sliding rings make it easy to position the reel where it balances well on the rod and feels comfortable to operate. I paired this with the Okuma Raw II center pin reel and it seems like a winning combo.

Big Al,
Shimano clarus 11"3" centerpin float rod.
Pros: Casts good, Light and balanced, Travel size, Great value
Cons: none at this time
Best Uses: float fishing, Centerpinning
Comments: Hi, my name is allan punton, i live in Scotland, u,k, i bought the 11"3" clarus centerpin rod for mainly float fishing on still waters, for roach, perch, bream, tench, and chub, the rod feels light and well ballanced, due to having sliding reel seat rings, it has a nice soft action, so it does not pull out of small fish, but can cope well with larger fish, just let the rod do it,s job, the softer tip will take out the fight of bigger fighting fish, It has a good looking livery, not too bold, I have to admit i am surprised to see graphite made rods still for sale in north America, over here in the u.k. we have not seen them for a number of years, all the rods over here are high modular carbon, and all have a fixed reel seat, no sliding rings, Anyway to sum up the clarus rod, it is a fine rod, if you are a mobile angler , 4 sections make it easy to get around, and for the money, you can,t go wrong, i would recommend you try one, tight lines everyone,

Nice Rod
Pros: Well Made, good price
Cons: Heavy
Best Uses: Steelhead, Centerpinning, large tailwaters
Comments: I purchased this rod a couple of weeks ago. The real test will be tomorrow when I take it out on the Manistee to pursue Steelhead. The rod seems well built. It seems like it has good backbone. It is a little heavy and doesn't balance perfectly with the Ross Flow reel I'm putting on it. But for $99 this is the best rod I've seen in this class. I would recomend this to a friend.

Great Rod
Comments: Picked it up after reading how everyone was raving about this rod. It is a really good rod for the price. Very light, crisp, and a perfect size handle. After fishing with a Browning Six Rivers for a year, this felt like an improvement. It handles steelhead very well even with 4lb leaders and feels like it will have enough backbone for slowing down a king. My only concern would be the eyes on the last piece of the rod. They are small and would probably freeze up easy.

Shimano clarus C pin rod.
Pros: Light and balanced, Casts good
Cons: Reel mounting rings slip
Best Uses: Smal to med streams
Comments: I like the way it casts and 4 pcs makes for easy transport. Caught some nice sized browns and bows the rods power made for quick realease. It is just right for the small to medium sized streams I fish. The reel mounting rings needed a little tape to keep the reel in place and the hook keeper should be moved behind the reel to keep it out of harms way. All and all,a GREAT rod!!
